Lead Tester

The lead tester takes responsibility for the management of all testing activity. They give direction and leadership to the testers and define strategies to ensure effective and efficient testing. They usually have quite a lot of knowledge of testing activities and techniques. The lead tester writes up test plans and checks that the team has the necessary resources to execute them. They prepare test reports for the project manager at all phases of the SDLC where they are involved.

Relationship to technical writer: As a technical writer you are in a good position to report bugs to the testers. The lead tester may suggest that you report these bugs to a relevant member of the testing team. The lead tester is a good source of feedback in relation to the suitability and relevance of the material you include in the user guides.
